TM Movie News: James Bond, Wonder Woman, Paul... Blart...

- by Steve Garcia, 17 November 2014

Happy Monday, my lovely Muties! James Bond! Wonder Woman! The Guardians of the Galaxy! Paul Blart?! No, it’s not the next big team-up film, ladies and germs! IT’S MOVIE NEWS TIME!

Picture

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice:

  • If there’s one positively shared opinion of Zack Snyder’s resume, it’s that all of his films from 300 to Sucker Punch are stunning to look at. It was no different in 2013’s Man of Steel, and it appears that the director will step his game up for upcoming superhero blockbuster, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, as it will be shooting with IMAX cameras. Multiple eye witnesses on the Chicago set have reported the monstrous-sized equipment, with one of those being Creative Director at Tell Tale Productions Mike Eisenberg, who tweeted what about he saw:

  • Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will be hitting theaters on March 25, 2016. Written by Argo’s Chris Terrio, the film will star Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, and Diane Lane.

Bond 24:

  • In a beautiful match made in heaven, rumor has it that Django Unchained star Christoph will be playing a “significant role” in the upcoming James Bond film. According to Daily Mail Online, Waltz’s role was described as “not immediately evident whether the part’s friend, or foe, or a bit of both.” Bond 24 is set for a November 6, 2015 release, and Waltz will co-star alongside Daniel Craig and Ralph Fiennes.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2:

  • In a recent sit-down with IGN, director James Gunn dropped a few hints on what and what not to expect from the sequel to Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. In the interview, Gunn explains things such as the significance of Adam Warlock’s cocoon, a desire to further explore characters and concepts such as Nebula, the Celestials, and the inevitable reveal of Star-Lord’s father, but the real meat and potatoes of the discussion was his stance on how his film will tie into the grand scheme of Marvel Studios’s Phase 3 plans:
  • "I really am concerned with the cosmic. I am often concerned with the future, but I am concerned with where the cosmic characters go. I don't think it's about intertwining them too much with the Marvel Earth heroes. I think that that isn't what it's about. We're not here to service Infinity War. We're not here to service The Avengers. It's really about the Guardians and where they can go. I think there are similarities to the rest of the Marvel Universe, but there's also a lot of differences. The Guardians have a little more darkness to them, I think. They're not as good."
  • Guardians of the Galaxy will be available on Blu-Ray and DVD on December 9, 2014. Guardians of the Galaxy 2 will be coming to a theater near you on May 5, 2017. Starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Batista, Bradley Cooper, and Vin Diesel as Groot.

Suicide Squad:

  • The casting rumors for David Ayer’s Suicide Squad continue to run wild, as Variety reported that Jai Courtney (A Good Day to Die Hard) is supposedly locked in for the role of Deadshot, a longtime member of the team in the comic books. The site also claimed that Tom Hardy and Will Smith are still in negotiations to join the ensemble cast, as well as Jared Leto and Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street), which in recent reports were said to be playing the roles of the iconic Batman villains: Joker and Harley Quinn, respectively. Suicide Squad is slated to release on August 5, 2016.

The Visit:

  • Following 2013’s summer flop After Earth, Deadline reported that M. Night Shyamalan went underground anf self-financed and shot a low-budget thriller alongside Blumhouse Productions’s Jason Blum entirely in secret. Universal just purchased the rights, and will be released on September 11, 2015. Here is a synopsis, courtesy of Blastr.com:
  • “The Visit focuses on a brother and sister who are sent to their grandparents’ remote Pennsylvania farm for a weeklong trip. Once the children discover that the elderly couple is involved in something deeply disturbing, they see their chances of getting back home are growing smaller every day.”

Wonder Woman:

  • According to Variety, Warner Bros. is in negotiations with Breaking Bad director Michelle MacLaren to direct Wonder Woman. In addition to the eleven episodes of Breaking Bad, McLaren also has three episodes of The Walking Dead, and four episodes of Game of Thrones under her directorial belt. Wonder Woman will be coming to theaters on June 23, 2017, starring Gal Gadot.
