20,000 Leagues under the Sea:

  • X-Men director Bryan Singer has announced that his next film after X-Men: Apocalypse is going to be another adaptation of 20,000 Leagues under the Sea. He was quick to reassure fans that he will still continue to be making X-Men films (which tells us that they already have the next one on board), so we can all rejoice. A few months ago, there was a report that they were looking to reboot The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. 20,000 Leagues’s Captain Nemo was a key character in that story, so… shared movie universe? Maybe!

It's my 50th birthday (ouch), and I just put the finishing touches on the script for my next film. A story I've wanted to retell since childhood. I promise this will be an epic and emotional adventure for all ages! An adventure very dear to my heart.  Not abandoning the #xmen universe. Very excited about #xmenapocalypse and beyond. #julesverne #20000leaguesunderthesea #nemo

Booster Gold & Blue Beetle:

  • The folks over at The Tracking Board have been reporting that a Blue Beetle and Booster Gold film is in the works, directed by Arrow producer Steve Berlanti. A few days after that, Heroic Hollywood all of a sudden got a scoop that screenwriter Zak Penn (X-Men: The Last Stand, The Incredible Hulk) is attached to this project. The film is said to be a “buddy cop” style action film. Seeing as how WB has come out and said that they want their DC Extended Universe to have a heavier tone, Berlanti is responsible for all things DC TV, and that WB has stated that they want their films and TV separate, I’m going to say that either A) this is complete BS, or B) this will be the first feature film to take place in the CW Arrow/Flash universe. We’ll see!

Gambit:

  • In sadder news, Deadline broke the news that director Rupert Wyatt (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) has stepped away from Fox’s Gambit film. The project is still underway, however, as Wyatt said the following:
  • “I was very much looking forward to working with my friend Channing [Tatum] and the team at Fox, but regrettably a push in the start date now conflicts with another project. I thank them for the opportunity, and I know that Gambit will make a terrific film.”
  • Gambit is slated for October 7, 2017.

Godzilla v King Kong: Death of Pacific Rim:

  • It’s been a wild week for Legendary Pictures! The upcoming King Kong reboot, Skull Island, has moved from Universal to Warner Brothers with the intention of setting up a crossover film between Kong and the newly-rebooted Godzilla. That’s incredible, but what followed was… unfortunate. Because of the move, it appears that Legendary’s sequel to Pacific Rim has been put on “indefinite hold” due to its massive budget (what, you didn’t think that buying King Kong was cheap, did you?) The Hollywood Reporter ran a fascinating article on the subject, which you can check out here.

STUFF YOU SHOULD LOOK AT:

In The Hear of The Sea:

  • Thor v Whale: Dawn of Justice! LOOK AT IT!

Point Break:

  • This is a thing! LOOK AT IT!

And there you have it! Upset about Pacific Rim’s current stand? Who would you like to see direct Gambit? Excited about the new 20,000 Leagues? Let us know! As always, be good to one another!
