TM Movie News: So Much To Look At!

- by Steve Garcia, 25 August 2014

Happy Monday, my lovely Muties! It’s been an incredibly slow week regarding actual NEWS news, but the movie gods have graced us with tons of new trailers and set photos, so it all evens out! From Ant-Man to Superman! From the wizarding world of Harry Potter to creepy dolls from Hell! Sit back and relax, ladies and germs! IT’S MOVIE NEWS TIME!

Picture

Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them:

  • The all-new adventure in the Harry Potter universe is about to unfurl, as David Yates (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) has signed on to direct the upcoming Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them. Written by none other than J.K. Rolling herself, the film is slated for a November 18, 2016 release. Yates is currently in production on Tarzan for Warner Brothers, whose star-studded cast includes Alexander Skarsgård, Christoph Waltz, and Samuel L. Jackson. Tarzan hits theaters on July 1, 2016, which means this man has a very busy schedule from now to then!

The Stand:

  • Since Matthew McConaughey came back from the dark depths of romantic comedies to critically acclaimed films such as The Wolf of Wall Street, Mud, and Dallas Buyers Club, it comes as no surprise that every studio in Hollywood wants a piece of him. According to Deadline, Warner Bros. is especially interested in the actor for the upcoming Stephen King adaptation, The Stand, which will be directed by Josh Boone (The Fault in Our Stars). The scoop suggests that the Oscar winner will be playing the part of Randall Flagg, who appears in a number of other King novels, most notably in “The Dark Tower,” in which Flagg is the main antagonist. The Dark Tower has been in development hell for a number of years now for a film/TV adaptation, so could this be the start of something bigger? We’ll see!
