TM Movie News: Tupac, Godzilla, Tarzan and more!

- by Steve Garcia, 24 February 2014

Happy Monday Trash Muties, and boy, have I got some stuff for you! Who will direct the upcoming Dr. Strange movie? Who is our new Fantastic Four? Is there a Space Jam 2 happening? Will Guardians of the Galaxy be the best movie made by human beings on planet Earth? All this and more, on this week’s Movie News!

Picture

Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues... Continued:

  • For the first week of March, hardcore fans of the Channel 4 News Team will be graced with a brand new cut of Anchorman 2, featuring up to 763 new jokes! Odin’s raven, that’s fantastic! Rejoice, fans! Sorry, everyone else!

Doctor Strange:

  • The Doctor Strange movie is just around the corner, and it looks like Marvel Studios has officially begun seeking out directors! While nothing is set in stone, there are three frontrunners for the project, according to The Hollywood Reporter: Mark Andrews (Brave, A Royal Affair), Dean Israelite (Welcome to Yesterday), and Jonathan Levine (50/50, Warm Bodies). Each of them (with the exception of Israelite, who’s a relative newcomer) definitely has the chops to handle the Sorcerer Supreme, so I’ll trust Marvel with just about anything at this point!

Fantastic Four:

  • Fox is still developing that Fantastic Four reboot, and to officially confirm it to people everywhere, we finally got our cast! The elastic Mr. Fantastic will be played by Miles Teller (Project X), Kate Mara (House of Cards) will be the Invisible Woman, the longtime-attached Michael B Jordan (Chronicle) will be our new Human Torch, and to round out the team will be Jamie Bell (Jumper) as the ever-lovin’ Thing. As much as I want to be pumped and excited, I just can’t support this one, folks. But let’s be as positive as we can, Trash Muties! The FF has always been an iconic Marvel franchise, and hopefully they’ll get the justice they deserve for that big budget blockbuster in due time.

The Raving Rabbids:

  • Ubisoft and Sony have announced that they will be joining forces to bring the Raving Rabbids from the Rayman videogame franchise to the big screen in a live-action/animated film. Here’s a snippet from the press release!
  • “There is an infectious quality to the Rabbids. Their simple joy and absurd, anarchic behavior inadvertently causes you to look at the world afresh. There's no end to the comedy and chaos they will cause when they invade our theaters."
  • So stay tuned for this generation’s new version of the Gremlins! Or not! I have no opinions on his whatsoever!

Space Jam 2:

  • In the world of whacky rumors turned reality, Warner Brothers is developing a sequel to the 1996 film Space Jam. A few days ago, news that NBA star LeBron James was attached to the sequel, however that rumor was quickly shut down by his crew. As it turns out, however, WB is indeed going ahead with this future project. Hopefully they return with the original Looney Toons designs and that kick-ass soundtrack! COME ON AND SLAM! IF YOU WANNA JAM!

Tarzan:

  • A story that never seems to get old, a new Tarzan film by Warner Bros. is now locked in for a July 1, 2016 release. Actor Alexander Skarsgård will be playing the king of the apes, along with Samuel L. Jackson, Christoph Waltz, and Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street) as Tarzan’s love interest, Jane. The film will be directed by David Yates (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows), and with an all-star list like that, it’ll be kind of hard not to give this one a chance. The hype is on!

Tupac Biopic:

  • Director John Singleton (Abduction, Boyz n the Hood) has announced that he is attached to write, direct, and produce an upcoming biopic featuring the deceased Tupac Shakur. The project, which was years in the making, was put on hold for a brief amount of time due to a legal battle, but production has been put back on track. Good stuff! Singleton’s a great director who’s clearly passionate about the subject, so it’ll be very interesting to see how it all plays out!

STUFF YOU SHOULD LOOK AT:

Godzilla:

  • Godzilla has an epic new poster! He’s huge! LOOK AT IT!

Obraz

Guardians of the Galaxy:

  • OH MY GOD, THAT TRAILER! HAVE YOU SEEN THAT TRAILER! LOOK AT IT!
Obraz

The Lego Movie:

  • Did you see The Lego Movie yet? Of course you have! Here’s a hysterical blooper reel and Will Arnett’s Batman song!

Noah:

  • Darren Aronofsky’s Noah is upon us! New posters! LOOK AT THEM!

Obraz
Obraz

The Purge: Anarchy:

  • Universal is wasting no time whatsoever! The sequel just got its first trailer and pretty poster! LOOK AT THEM!

Obraz

And that’s that! How do you feel about the Fantastic Four cast? On a scale of 1 to OOGA CHAKA, how pumped are you for the Guardians of the Galaxy? Will you go see the extended cut of Anchorman? What did you think of that Purge trailer? That’ll do it for this week, Trash Muties! Be good to one another!
