MUSIC: Videogram Takes On The "Halloween" ThemeAs far as horror soundtracks go, there's not many more iconic scores than John Carpenter's theme to "Halloween". And Halloween is just around the corner, so if you're already getting in the mood, we got some treats and tricks from Videogram to help creep you the fuck out.
Carpenter's work in both film and music has been a clear influence on a lot of Videogram's previous records, so this latest release feels absolutely fitting. The Swedish producer's arrangement of the "Halloween" theme keeps the core of the original intact while giving it a bit of a brand new edge. It's a great tribute not just to "Halloween", but to Carpenter's groundbreaking work as a composer. The single is a free/"name your price" kind of deal on Bandcamp (that's the best kind of deal), and since ol' Michael Myer's favorite killing music works real well with some nice visuals, we got a video to accompany it. Put together by The 80's Guy, it edits down Mike's cinematic debut to an essential, intense cut. Good cuts all around. Give it a look, get it on Bandcamp, and get into that Halloween spirit. What Carpenter movie is your favorite? Who's the better slasher, Jason or Michael Myers? Let us know in the comments! |
