TrashMutant.com is Looking for Writers

Trash Mutant is expanding! And unless you completely suck at writing, Trash Mutant may want YOU! That’s right, we are looking for some fresh Mutant blood, and writers from all walks of life are welcome. If you’re interested in popular culture (or some branch of it) and want your voice heard, then you’re in the right place.

If you’re new to the site, don’t worry about that! We got all sorts of details below, and they are very detailed details.

WHO WE ARE

We are a popculture website with an international staff. We don’t just stick to one thing – we write about comics, movies, television, video games, books, music, horror, sci-fi, art, anime and many other things we’re into. Independent culture and popular culture mix freely here. We feature reviews, news articles, comedy articles, essays, opinion pieces and interviews.

The site keeps expanding, the readership keeps growing, and our team needs to grow, too. We want more creative, talented people around. People that could add valuable things to the greatest website in the world.

This is where we live. Plenty of room left!

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We are a very inclusive bunch. It doesn’t matter where you’re from, whether you’re a guy or a girl, or whatever background or previous experience you have. We only care if you have something to say and can say it in an interesting way.

If you didn’t find your favorite topic listed in the “what we write about” bit above, but you think it would be a good fit for the site, then we’re all ears! If you want to write commentary on current events in popculture, or serious issues that need to be addressed – good. If you want to talk about art, or old movies, or tropes in culture – sure. If you have an amazing idea for an essay about serial killers, want to speak on how Arnold Schwarzenegger is secretly the greatest comedian of his era, or why Bigfoot is most definitely real for sure, then that’s… great, actually. We have stuff like this and this and this, and if you pitch us something new and good we will be thrilled. And you can always review stuff. More on that below.

If you’re a funny person, we want to hear from you. If you’re a person with some strong opinions about serious or not so serious things, we want to hear from you. Even if you’re not sure if your ideas would be something we would like – try us.

THE INCREDIBLE BENEFITS

There is no money in writing for Trash Mutant right now, and we’re not even putting shitty ads on the site to make a penny. First and foremost this is a labor of love kind of deal. But there’s a lot of good things to look forward to.

We are in constant contact with several major comicbook and book publishers, game creators and artists. Reaching out for review copies of things you want to cover isn’t a problem.

One of the greatest things ever is getting to interview people you’re a fan of. Reaching out for an interview is easier and more likely to succeed when you write for a website, especially one as classy as Trash Mutant. 

Getting your stuff read by more people than just your mom is a very satisfying feeling. We’ve had some articles that were read by tens of thousands of people. If we believe in your stuff, we will work on getting it out there. There’s also a lot of teamwork going on, to make the articles read and look as good as possible.

HOW TO APPLY

Just use the contact form here, or send us an email at [email protected]. We will want to see some samples of your writing, so if you have any – send them in. If you don’t have any yet, but want to pitch us something and see if we’re interested first, then that works, too. We will reply to everybody, even if we’re not into it. If we like what you send us, we will probably want to chat with you a little, on Facebook, some chat or messenger or whatever whatever.
