TM Movie News: Assassins, Busters and Doctor Strange!

Happy Tuesday, my lovely Muties! Sorcerers, potential war epics, and serial slashers this week! IT’S MOVIE NEWS TIME!
 

Doctor Strange:
​

• Doctor Strange has a villain! The main Marvel man, Kevin Feige spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the upcoming film’s big bad, who will be portrayed by Hannibal star Mads Mikkelson. Here’s what Feige said about this role:
• “We will take audiences through sort of a guide to the multiverse, other dimensions, and there are amazing things out there — wonders that are going to be hopefully visually extremely interesting and unique to this movie. But there are also very scary things in these other dimensions. Mads’s character is a sorcerer who breaks off into his own sect. [He] believes that the Ancient One is just protecting her own power base and that the world may be better off if we were to allow some of these other things through.”
• While they won’t give us the name of this villain, one can assume that since Doctor Strange only has two real enemies, and with Baron Mordo already cast in the film, that Mikkelson will likely be the dreaded Dormammu. We’ll find out sooner or later! Doctor Strange hits theaters on November 4, 2016!

Dunkirk:
​

• According to The Playlist, the rumor is that Christopher Nolan’s next film will be based on the real-life events of the evacuation of Dunkirk during World War II. The article also suggests that the film will be shot in IMAX, as that is sort of Nolan’s thing. Personally, I think this is a brilliant career move on his part, as the war film genre is one of the only things lacking from his bold body of work. We may be looking at his very first Academy Award here, folks!

Halloween:

• What is next for Michael Myers? Apparently, Dimension Films has lost the rights for the Halloween franchise, and Miramax is looking for a new distributer for it. Contenders could be anyone from Paramount to Warner Bros. A brilliant piece of speculation from the initial report suggested that it wouldn’t be too farfetched to assume that these studios may fight to have all of the iconic horror slashers under one roof for an Avengers-esque showdown. Freddy Krugar vs. Jason Voorhees vs. Leatherface vs. Michael freaking Myers? Yes please!
