TM Movie News: Jumanji, Ant-Man, Avengers & more!

- by Steve Garcia, 23 August 2016

Happy Tuesday, my lovely Muties! IT’S MOVIE NEWS TIME!

Picture

Ant-Man and the Wasp:

  • I know a guy that’s confirmed to return for Ant-Man’s next adventure on the big screen! Subtly dropped by The Hollywood Reporter, the charmingly comedic Michael Pena will reprise his role as Ant-Man’s friend Louis in the upcoming sequel, set to film early next year. While no story details have been announced yet, one can assume that the plot involves the fallout of Captain America: Civil War and Evangeline Lilly’s Hope Pym debut as the wondrous Wasp, the longtime partner and love interest to Ant-Man in the comics.

Avengers: Infinity War:

  • Speaking of the good ‘ol Marvel Cinematic Universe,  Vin Diesel (aka Groot) took to his Facebook page to announce that he and the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy will make an appearance in the third Avengers film, Avengers: Infinity War. After longtime speculation, it was only a matter of time before the confirmation was made, as Thanos, who was teased since The Avengers was involved with the events of Guardians of the Galaxy, inevitably serving as a bridge between the two franchises. It’s all connected! Check out Diesel’s video below, but feel free to skip to the last seven minutes where he makes the announcement:

Bad Boys 3:

  • If you were wondering why it’s been so long without Bad Boys 3, fear not! Director Joe Carnahan (The A-Team, The Grey) dropped a few updates on the production of the sequel, and how it’s “doing sequels right,” in an interview with io9:
  • “…The strongest script of any of those movies. Hands down. In a walk over. Unless you’re Toy Story 3, usually third ones aren’t the strongest, and I think this one will be the strongest of the trilogy thus far. There’s a lot of funny shit in this movie. And there’s also a very mysterious, but tonally spot-on story that I think is kind of perfect for where we are in this day and age, where the guys are and reflectively, a very modern take on these guys. It’s kind of what becomes of Bad Boys when they’re not boys anymore.”

Jumanji:

  • Social media master Dwayne The Rock Johnson went on Instagram yesterday to cool everyone’s jets regarding that Jumanji movie he’s working on with Jack Black and Kevin Hart. First off, it’s not a reboot (as people feared), but a continuation that takes place twenty years after the events of the Robin Williams film. Shooting begins in just four weeks in Hawaii, where Dwayne The Rock Johnson will buy Snickers bars for the whole crew. What a guy!

Yo.. Lots of positive □□ chatter now on something I should've clarified months ago when we announced we were making JUMANJI. This new movie will NOT be a remake or reboot of the original. It will be a CONTINUATION of the awesome JUMANJI adventure 20 years later. As a producer on this movie and someone who loves the original, you have my word we'll honor the legend of "Alan Parrish" and properly introduce a whole new generation to the fun and crazy JUMANJI universe that so many of us loved and grew up on. Our director Jake Kasdan and lead producer Matt Tohlmach are focused and ready go. They also have no f*cking idea what they've gotten themselves into by hiring Me, Kevin Hart and Jack Black aka "The Cray Cray Triplets" as the stars of this movie.□□ Shooting begins in 4 weeks. And on a personal note, it's such a cool thing for me to bring the production of this movie to Hawaii. The positive ripple effect it has on local businesses and families in terms of creating jobs and additional income makes me very happy. I grew up on the island thru hard times and good times, so it means a lot to this local boy. Hell, I used to steal a Snickers candy bar every day from 7-11 when I walked to the gym as my pre workout meal when I was 14yrs cause I was too broke to buy one. When I return to Hawaii, I will go back to that 7-11 (on Kapiolani Blvd) and finally buy that Snickers bar after all these years. Then I'll proceed to my psychiatric therapy session cause clearly I'm still messed up over that broke time in my life. #JUMANJI #HAWAII #SonyPictures #SnickersForTheWholeCrew
