TM Movie News: Justice League, Alien, Superman & more!

- by Steve Garcia, 24 February 2016

Happy Wednesday, my lovely Muties! IT’S MOVIE NEWS TIME!

Picture

Alien: Covenant:

  • The Hateful Eight star Demian Bichir has been cast in Alien: Covenant in an unknown role! Covenant will serve as the bridge between Ridley Scott’s Prometheus and the original Alien. Bichir joins an already star-studded cast, including the likes of Michael Fassbender, Noomi Rapace, Danny McBride, and Katherine Waterson. As someone who kind of-sort of enjoyed Prometheus and loved the original Alien, my expectations are at a cool 68% hype. I had no idea that Danny McBride was involved in the project until I did my research for this report, so I’m really happy to see what he’ll bring to the table too! Alien: Covenant is slated for October 6, 2017.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice:

  • You might want to go to the bathroom before watching Batman and Superman beat each other up before becoming friends, because AMC has confirmed how long this sucker is. Two hours and thirty-one minutes is the official run time, and that’s pretty… standard. You’d think it’d be a ten hour movie with the amount of coverage is getting, no? Anyway, it’s only a measly ten minutes longer than both Avengers movies, so in comparison, there’s nothing special about it. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice comes out on March 25, 2016! …But I bet you already knew that, didn’t you?

Captain America: Civil War:

  • Not to be outdone by the aforementioned BvS news, Captain America: Civil War star Martin Freeman has had a secret role in it, and now his character has finally been released to the public. Freeman is going to be none other than Everett Ross. In a nutshell, Ross is the guy that represents the United States in the fictitious country of Wakanda, aka Black Panther’s house. It is currently unknown whether or not Freeman will reprise his role in the upcoming Black Panther film, but it is certainly a possibility, as Freeman is top-notch talent. If you have not seen season one of FX’s Fargo, load it up, read the rest of this article while it buffers, and then binge it. Captain America: Civil War hits theaters on May 6, 2016. But more importantly, go watch Fargo.

Wolverine 3:

  • Deadpool’s rated R success has all but confirmed that Wolverine 3 will probably be headed in that direction as well. Sources say that Hugh Jackman’s last stab at Wolverine will aim for an R rating, and will be a “loose” adaptation of Mark Millar’s comic book Old Man Logan. To sum this one up, Old Man Logan is a comic that takes place in a dystopian, Mad Max-esque Marvel Universe in which the villains teamed up and raised hell, and Wolverine is among the last living heroes. Of course it can’t be a word for word adaptation because it involves a hillbilly Hulk family, Spider-Man’s daughter who refers to herself as “Spider-Bitch,” a blind, old man Hawkeye, and President Red Skull. Oh, and the source material also features a t-rex that bonded with the Venom symbiote? Isn’t that cool? It won’t make the film because film rights, but look that up when you get a chance. Wolverine 3 is slated for March 3, 2017.

STUFF YOU SHOULD LOOK AT!

Justice League:

  • Justice League is officially filming on April 11, 2016, so internet hype begins now. AND THERE’S A PICTURE OF THE SET THAT APPARENTLY WILL NOT BE TOUCHED UNTIL APRIL 11. LOOK AT IT. THERE’S A FLASH COSTUME.

Pete’s Dragon:

  • Disney is remaking Pete’s Dragon! I’ve never seen the original, but this trailer is badass! LOOK AT IT.

And there you have it! Will we get the gory Wolverine movie we need? Did you think the BvS run time would be any longer? How good was that Pete’s Dragon trailer? Let us know! As always, be good to one another! And watch Fargo. Season one. Now.
