TM Movie News: Rogue One, Jungle Book, Rambo & more!

- by Steve Garcia, 11 January 2016

Happy Monday, my lovely Muties! IT’S MOVIE NEWS TIME!

Picture

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice:

  • Superman speaks! In an interview with Cineplex, Henry Cavill had a few choice words about the criticisms of Man of Steel, and whether or not BvS: DoJ was a result of those criticisms:
  • “The reception of my first Superman movie, from what I’ve read, was fairly mixed.  Everyone I’ve spoken to enjoyed the movie, but [not] unlike if you’re going to meet a stranger in the street, they’re not going to badmouth you to your face. There’s no intentional move, I don’t think, in Batman v Superman to address any issues that people had with Man of Steel. It’s just a continuation of that storyline and they continue to develop that world and introduce new characters.”
  • Well, he isn’t wrong. Man of Steel has certainly been a “love it or hate it” film among many fans of the character. I think/hope that as this new story of Superman unfolds, that he will eventually become that beacon of truth, justice, and the American way that he’s always been since his conception. We’re just gonna have to wait and see. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters on March 25, 2016.

Rambo 5:

  • After years of rumors and reports that a new Rambo film is in the works, Sly himself has finally come out about the character’s future. Unfortunately, it looks like he’s retired:
  • “The heart’s willing, but the body says, ‘Stay home!’ It’s like fighters that go back for one last round and get clobbered. Leave it to someone else.”
  • It’s hard to argue with the 69 year old legend. After his award worthy performance in Creed, however, I’m looking forward to what he has in store for audiences next.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story:

  • Now that Episode VII is out, awesome, and broke almost every record possible so far, it’s time to look at the future: Rogue One. All the is currently known about the project so far is that it is about the theft of the plans of the original Death Star, placing it between episodes III and IV. Among the ensamble cast is Hannibal star Mads Mikkelsen, but mum’s the word on any and all character descriptions for now. According to MakingStarWars.net, however, we might know some crucial info on his character. SPOILERS!
  • Apparently, Mikkelsen’s character was the man responsible for creating the Death Star, and he feels really, really bad about it. He feels so bad, in fact, that he is going to enlist the help of his daughter (who will be played by Felicity Jones) to make sure his creation will never see the light of day. Previous rumors suggested that she may be a bounty hunter, but with this report, the site suggests that she will be a scientist herself, just like her father.
  • With a pitch like that, how can you not look forward to this one? Of course this is just a rumor for right now, but there’s no harm in speculation. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story comes to theaters on December 16, 2016.

Transformers 5:

  • In a move that literally everyone saw coming, Michael Bay will, in fact, direct Transformers 5. Say what you will about the quality of those films, but you can’t deny that the money earned from the franchise is astronomically good for the studio. Bay himself revealed his involvement in an interview with Rolling Stone, which you can check out here.

STUFF YOU SHOULD LOOK AT!

The Conjuring 2:

  • A TEASER IS OUT! LOOK AT IT!

The Jungle Book:

  • IT’S LIKE EVERYTHING FROM MY CHILDHOOD IS BECOMING REAL AND EVEN MORE AWESOME. LOOK AT IT!

And there you have it! Would you want another Rambo? Does the Rogue One rumor excite you? How good was that Conjuring trailer?! Let us know! We are still looking for Brendan Fraser, by the way! As always, be good to one another!
