TM Movie News: Spider-Man's Eyes, Poltergeist, plenty more!
Alright, alright, alright Trash Mutant! Another installment of Movie News coming at you, so let’s do this thang! (if you want to… not gonna force you… but you should… just sayin’...)
The Amazing Spider-Man II: The new costume for the highly anticipated sequel was revealed last week. The lenses from the teased picture on Marc Webb’s Twitter page were in fact Spider-Man’s new “eyes.” The eyes are much bigger this time, and the new costume looks almost entirely like the comic book version, unlike the previous film’s attempt. In more recent news, Chris Cooper (The Muppets, October Sky) has officially been casted as the villainous Norman Osborn. Whether or not his alter ego, the Green Goblin, is set to make an appearance next to the likes of Electro (played by Jamie Foxx) and Rhino (Paul Giamatti) has yet to be seen.
Anchorman 2: The story for Anchorman 2 will take place in New York City, rather than the previous film’s setting of San Diego. John C Reilly (Wreck-It Ralph), Meagan Good (Think like a Man), Dylan Baker (Trick ‘r Treat), and Harrison Ford have all joined the ever-growing cast.
Army of Darkness 2: In a recent interview, Sam Raimi (Oz, the Great and Powerful) says that he and his brother Ted are working on the script for Evil Dead 4. In a separate interview, producer Rob Tapert went on to correct the director by saying that it will be a direct sequel to Army of Darkness, separating itself from the newly rebooted Evil Dead series. Actor Bruce Campbell has gone on record by saying that "I've heard this a thousand times, because in the back of his mind, [Raimi] never wants to let go, because he loved making these movies. We all loved making them together. They were a nightmare to make, very difficult, but they lasted the test of time, so he's not going to let that go, and I'm never going to say 'no.' It'll be me and a walker fighting some other old guy. But that's what he does and who knows? It may happen."
DC Comics: Director Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight Rises) has apparently been made the head of creative control regarding all things WB/DC Comics-related. Much in the same way director Joss Whedon is the head of Marvel Studios and comic book creator Mark Millar’s involvement with the Fox Marvel films, this grants Nolan a final say in all things DC, including the new Man of Steel franchise, the impending Batman reboot, and the anticipated Justice League film.
The Hobbit: There and Back Again: The third film in The Hobbit trilogy has been pushed back to December of 2014, rather than the summer, as originally planned.
Hulk: The popular comic book storyline, Planet Hulk, was speculated to be Marvel/Disney’s big plan for their “Phase Three,” but both Joss Whedon and Mark Ruffalo (The Avengers) shot it down in recent interviews. Ruffalo also said that the next time audiences will see the Hulk is in The Avengers sequel.
Kick-Ass 2: The sequel been pushed from June of this year to August.
Man of Steel: Warner Bros. screened the film for the cast, crew, friends, producers, etc. of Man of Steel and they are calling it “the best movie of the year.” Early reviews are stating that the action in the film is intense, and how the trailers purposely have been holding back on it. Someone has gone on record by saying “Imagine a Nolan story with Snyder effects/action,” and “it's not nearly as dour and serious as the trailers suggest.” A third and final trailer is reportedly going to be released next month.
National Lampoon’s Vacation Sequel: The next sequel to the comedic franchise has officially started shooting. Ed Helms (The Hangover) will be starring as the film’s main character, Rusty Griswold.
Poltergeist: The classic horror film is reportedly being remade. It will be directed by Gil Kenan (Monster House).
Star Wars: Episode VII: Carrie Fisher has reportedly confirmed to return as Princess Leia in the 2015 sequel. In a nice little nugget of an interview, George Lucas stated that “we had already signed Mark and Carrie and Harrison—or we were pretty much in final stages of negotiation.”
STUFF YOU SHOULD LOOK AT: The Conjuring: A trailer was released for a new horror movie that was based on a true story or something. Anyway, looks decent. If you’re afraid of clapping and basements, look at it! Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2: A new trailer was released for the sequel to that movie that was based on a book. Look at it if you want to, but nobody will blame you if you don’t. Food puns all up in here. Look at it (or not)! Iron Man 3: Anyone who’s anyone saw the spectacular new Iron Man 3 trailer. But if you haven’t (and I doubt you haven’t), check it out right the frack now! I’m not spoiling a damn thing! Look at it! And that’s that! What do you think of this week’s news, righteous readers? Do you like Spider-Man’s new look? Stoked about the Anchorman 2 and Star Wars cast? How do you feel about Nolan’s supposed new position at WB? Who wants to freeze with me to wait for Superman? Also, watch that Iron Man trailer! Thanks for reading, as always. Be good to one another! |
