TM Movie News: The 93% Badass Edition

Hiya Trash Mutants! Lots of Marvel news! Lots of sequel news! Some videos to see! Lots of other stuff! Let’s look at it all!

• To kick things off, Kick-Ass 2 (see what I did there?) is officially coming to a theater near you on June 28, 2013! I haven’t read the second book yet, but I adored the first movie and book, so this one’s gotta be good, right?
  

• And while we’re on the subject of release dates, after the speculations, The Avengers sequel is officially slated for May 1, 2015. AND THAT’S NOT ALL! It’s officially titled The Untitled Avengers Sequel for the time being, so let the speculation begin on a sub-title! Avengers 2: The Infinity Gauntlet? Avengers 2: Civil War? Avengers 2: Operation Ultron? I dunno! It’ll be awesome to wait for it though!
  

• Some more Daredevil news! Fox is losing DD this year, and they are officially letting it go. Great! Marvel/Disney’s got Matt Murdock and his friends, and that opens the door to some interesting crossover opportunities! They will now own Daredevil, as well as already owning Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Punisher, Moon Knight, Cloak, and Dagger… Marvel Knights movie please!!! Plus, with Daredevil, you get Kingpin, Bullseye, and Elektra! Freakin’ schweet! Joe Carnahan, the almost director of the would-have-been Daredevil movie, released a sizzle-reel of what he had in mind for his DD movie. It’s so freaking awesome, and you can look at it online! Watch the DD movie that almost was!

• More Marvel news, and this time it’s about Guardians of the Galaxy. The plot-synopsis is out, and… well, look at it yourself! About a U.S. pilot who ends up in space in the middle of a universal conflict and goes on the run with futuristic ex-cons who have something everyone wants. Looks like it’ll be from Starlod’s point of view! Great idea! I mean, he is the only human on the team after all. Smart move, Marvel. Smart, smart move.
  

• And now we go from that to… The Wolverine. Oh, here we go. Well, it’s not so bad: Hugh Jackman, Mr. Logan himself, says that a) this isn’t a sequel to the craptastic Origins movie, and b) it’s not mutant-heavy like the aforementioned sack of crap Origins movie. That’s actually some pretty decent news, but expectations are still pretty low from this writer’s end. This is the official plot-synopsis if you’d like to read it: Based on the celebrated comic book arc, THE WOLVERINE finds Logan, the eternal warrior and outsider, in Japan. There, samurai steel will clash with adamantium claw as Logan confronts a mysterious figure from his past in an epic battle that will leave him forever changed. And it’s also been announced that Svetlana Khodchenkova (try saying that three times fast) will be playing the villainess Viper in the film. Cool? Cool.
  

• In some sadder Marvel news, production for Iron Man 3 is being delayed. Mr. Robert Downey Jr. suffered an ankle injury on the set, but fear not shellheads! This might not delay the release date, but wish Mr. Downey good health. Get well soon, Mr. Stark! We love you!

• And in some non-comic book news, The Hangover 3! …alright, let’s see what we’ve got here. What can possibly make this movie more interesting than the last one, which was literally the first one all over again? How about confirmation that the “villain” in this movie is gonna be John Goodman? …Ok, now you’ve gotta see it. Perhaps they’ve learned something from the last one, especially with a casting decision like this. Goodman’s great, and this movie might be great too. We’ll see!
  

• Speaking of 3’s, we’ve got some Expendables 3 news! Action dudes being action dudes! They’ve officially signed on Nic Cage! That’s cool, right? I mean he is the Ghost Rider… No? Not interested? …but he’s a National Treasure! …Still nothing? Don’t rip your Face-Off, kids! …Ok, I’m done with the puns. They also wanna get Clint Eastwood and Harrison Ford in on the third movie, which would be excellent additions to the franchise. Hopefully they get them!

• Speaking of action dudes being action dudes, Sylvester Stallone’s new movie! It’s gonna be called Bullet to the Head and you can check out the trailer right here:
  

• Photos were released from the Perks of being a Wall Flower movie. It was based on a book, so if you’re a fan, you should be excited about that!

Well, this definitely balances out all the badass things in this week's news...

• Lastly, Raiders of the Lost Ark will be re-released in IMAX for 2 weeks this September! Awesome! It was the best Indie movie and I will defend that to the death so don’t argue with me! Ok? Ok!
